TRIPPP Provides Transit for All Abilities
All transit systems receiving public monies must have a paratransit counterpart to its ridesharing program. TRIPPP uses Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAV) in every city to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 42 U.S.C. §12181 et seq. Title II of the ADA applies to all state and local governments and prohibits discrimination on the basis of a person’s disability. A covered entity may not deny individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate in or benefit from the entity’s services or programs. 28 C.F.R. § 35.149.
If your transit program does not utilize public funds then a complementary ADA WAV program is not required.
On-Demand Reservations For Riders (Private Or Public)
TRIPPP utilizes a web-based booking tool that allows program reservationists to order and pay for rideshare or WAV rides on behalf of passengers without smartphones, typically older adults and low-income residents.
Choose between on-demand service or schedule up to 30 days in advance for a WAV ride. Riders won’t need the app, a smartphone, or a payment card. Riders may receive detailed trip information by an automated call or text message.
